In 2003, the Johnny R.Saadé family launched two ambitious vineyards in the Middle East. One of them heralded the revival of Syrian winemaking that dates back to the time of the Canaanites, the ancient Greeks and the Romans. The wines made at Domaine de Bargylus stand comparison with the best in the world, attracting the interest of wine lovers from all parts of the globe, thanks to the passion of Karim and Sandro Saadé. Cited by Pliny the Elder, Mount-Bargylus is the ancient name of Jebel Al-Ansariyé located in the hills above the Syrian port city of Latakia.
